Stomach Cancer (Gastric Cancer)
Stomach cancer develops from the inner lining of the stomach. Early symptoms are often subtle and include persistent indigestion, nausea, loss of appetite, and unexplained weight loss.
Surgical Treatment
- Subtotal Gastrectomy: Removal of part of the stomach for tumors in the lower portion
- Total Gastrectomy: Complete removal of the stomach with Roux-en-Y reconstruction
- D2 Lymphadenectomy: Systematic removal of regional lymph nodes for accurate staging and improved survival
- Laparoscopic/Robotic Surgery: Minimally invasive approach with faster recovery
Early Detection
Regular endoscopy screening is recommended for high-risk individuals. When caught early (Stage I), the 5-year survival rate exceeds 90%.
