Liver Cancer
Liver cancer includes hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). Risk factors include chronic hepatitis B or C, cirrhosis, fatty liver disease, and excessive alcohol consumption.
Treatment Options
- Hepatectomy: Surgical removal of the tumor along with a margin of healthy liver tissue
- Laparoscopic Liver Resection: Minimally invasive approach for eligible patients
- Ablation Therapies: Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) or microwave ablation for small tumors
- TACE: Transarterial chemoembolization for intermediate-stage tumors
The liver has remarkable regenerative capacity—up to 70% of the liver can be safely removed, and it will regenerate within weeks.
